
My undergraduate degree was in secondary English Education. I taught English at the secondary level and devoted several years working as a counselor at a university counseling center. I have spent valuable time working alongside other students, educators, administrators, and support staff. I learned very quickly that the education field can be equally grueling and rewarding. I also experienced firsthand how important it is to have an appropriate balance between resources and demands in the workplace and classroom.
Often, people are unaware of this imbalance until they experience burnout or compassion fatigue. Common symptoms of burnout are fatigue or exhaustion, lack of motivation or apathy toward your job or job performance, negative thoughts or feelings of dread when thinking about work, sleep difficulties, or other related anxiety or depression symptoms.
